Euronext-Borsa Italiana. The Italian presence on the European capital market is consolidated
CDP Equity has become the reference shareholder of Euronext, also safeguarding the change of governance of a strategic asset like Borsa Italiana. On 9 October 2020, Euronext acquired 100% of the Borsa Italiana Group from London Stock Exchange company.
General outlookBorsa, the Italian stock exchange, is a crucial financial infrastructure for attracting and managing the flow of capital needed to develop a market economy. Furthermore, the capital markets union is the backbone of the financial cohesion of the European Union. The completed operation will support the capital ecosystem in a pan-European framework, improving access to the financial resources of SMEs and tech companies, in addition to developing the Elite segment.
The investment strategyCDP Equity acquired 7.3% of Euronext, becoming a majority shareholder. This operation ensures an Italian representation on the Supervisory Board, on the Managing Board and on the College of Regulators which supervises the Group’s activities.

The numbers for the operationEuronext and Borsa Italiana will be the first regulated actor in the capital market, with more than € 42 billion raised in 2019 through IPOs. Italy will be the main taxpayer in terms of revenue (34% of combined revenue in 2019).
